Semi-Conductor: A Unique Musical Experience
Imagine being able to conduct your own orchestra with just the movement of your arms. Well, that’s exactly what the Semi-Conductor experiment by Google Creative Lab allows you to do. This innovative project, part of the AI Experiments collection, gives users the ability to change the tempo, volume, and instrumentation of a musical piece by simply moving their arms.
The Technology Behind Semi-Conductor
Semi-Conductor utilizes PoseNet, a machine learning library that operates directly in the browser, to track and interpret the user’s movements through their webcam. As you conduct, an algorithm follows your gestures and plays along to the musical score using a vast collection of audio files from live recorded instruments. The result is a dynamic and interactive experience that puts you in the conductor’s seat.
- Interact with music in a whole new way
- Experience the power of machine learning in real-time
- Engage with live recorded instruments through innovative technology
Created by the talented team of Rupert Parry, Melissa Lu, Haylie Craig, and Samantha Cordingley from Google Creative Lab in Sydney, Semi-Conductor showcases the endless possibilities of combining art and technology.
